DG Energy is taking holistic approach on energy systems and district heating
The coming strategy on heating and cooling from the European Commission expected at the end of this year will include heating and cooling as an integrated part of the energy system. This was the message from EU Policy Officer Eva Hoos from the European Commission’s Directorate General of Energy when she delivered her keynote speech at last week’s International Conference on Smart energy Systems and 4th Generation District Heating in Copenhagen.
Excellent communicators won the Best Presentation Awards at 4DH conference
Ability to communicate the science within their field of district heating research and thus making district heating more attractive and useful to the consumer was one of the main reasons behind the election of the winners of this year’s Best Presentation Awards at the International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and 4th Generation District Heating this week in Copenhagen.
4DH Conference: District heating will be part of European energy revolution
- Europe has a very interesting energy revolution on its way. Today, the energy supply mainly comes from nuclear and coal, but this is being reduced in the coming years, and the supply will go down significantly in a very short time, said former CEO of DONG Energy Anders Eldrup Tuesday at an international conference on future district heating held by the district heating research centre 4DH this week in Copenhagen. The conference has gathered 190 researchers and experts from the energy and district heating industry.
Registration for 4DH conference higher than expected
A growing focus on district heating and its possibilities for export and renewable energy is the reason for a larger than expected registration for the upcoming International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and 4th Generation District Heating in Copenhagen on August 25-26. Last year, the conference was attended by around 90 people, and this has doubled this year to 180 from 24 different countries around the globe.
Heat Roadmap 3 is ready
The third part of Heat Roadmap Europe, also known as the Stratego project, was launched in June 2015. It quantifies the impact of implementing various energy efficiency measures in the heating and cooling sectors of five EU Member States: Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, Romania, and the United Kingdom.
